How to keep in touch with people
Blogging, Facebook, Skype, Mail vs. material life

I got a mail this morning. A mail that made me cry and think. It was from my beloved Anja - "Is it the beginning of the end". 8 people lived together in the past 10-11 months. We, MAPOWski. And now everyone is going /or is already home or somewhere else abroad. People separate. Back in normal life, where there is less time for catching up with old mates...
Thanks to some people, we have now our blogs, skype, facebook, msn, flickr, whatever to keep in touch. Online touch. Or something like that.

During my stay in Switzerland I was convinced not to break up friendships in Bulgaria or at least to try to keep in touch somehow with people I care about. Soon I realized that the people I care about are not only in Bulgaria, but also spread all around Europe and few other places in Asia, South America mainly...
And it is damn hard to keep in touch with all the people you want to and it´s damn taking partly so much time...

Is it worth at the end?
Yes, it is!!! Or at least for me it is. Because these are people who have or had a part in my life, change me, support me, love me, care about me as well. Thank you guys!!! And I know that I can be next to you, no matter the hundereds or thousands of kilometers inbetween.

So far so good - more than 40 blogs I check (yes, I am getting better with Java --> look right... and if you tell me how to correct the title, I will keep reading your blog, I promise... ;)), over 150 contacts in Facebook (and I registered few months ago), no clue how many mails in my mail address book, contacts in skype, msn....

But what about the other people? You still have for sure old classmates or friends who do not use these features... What about them? Are you still in touch with them? No, I have tried to find them on Facebook as well, they are not there. Not even on StudiVZ...

Do we isolate ourselfs from people who we do not have available online?

And do you remember when was the last time when you chatted about 1h with a friend in your city instead of going out together? Yesterday? Right now, while you´re reading this blog, checking videos on YouTube and mailing some important information...

Though yes, I care. Not only of my eyes, but of my friends as well. Which is more important?!
Ironic, don´t you think...

Hugs all around from a blog addict...

Swiss traditions in Bulgaria

I was talking to Tim yesterday. Besides exchanging thoughts on life in Bulgaria and Argentina, we mentioned "the good days" as flatmates.
So, we had the tradition of cooking from time to time together.

My specialty: salads & invented meals
Tim´s specialty: Wurstsalat and barbeque stuff
Our specialty: cheese fondue or spaghetti with cheese sauce and broccoli.
So, as having some nostalgy, I decided to cook for my family some spaghetti with cheese sauce. As broccoli wouldn´t fit to their taste, I took some ham.

Bulgarized ("побългарени") traditions

So, disappointments:

1. In the shop - the only spaghetti I got were thiner than No 5
2. Cooking - Bulgarian spaghetti have to be cooked less than 5 min.
3. Preparing - according to my dad, spaghetti should be washed with water after you cook them in order no to agglutinate ("слепвам"). Yes, you can imagine my face by hearing this... Now imagine how I looked like when I got it at the end that he was right...
4. Spaghetti itself - hmm, the total disappointment ever... and I was at least happy that I put some ham instead of broccoli - otherwise noone would even try them...

Well, at least I have this picture to think how I wanted them to look like...

Bon appetit from one unlucky cooker.

Blogging is funnier than ever - especially if you are as good with Java skripts as I am :P Though finally time to learn something new :)

How is time passing by now?

I am in my hometown. And the last time when I´ve spent more than a week at home without working or studying was... in 2003 I guess. Yes, most of my friends are in other cities in Bulgaria now. Or abroad.

There are some people I know around, some old "friends". Only that I do not have the need to see most of them (of course, there are exceptions). Maybe you know the feeling - seeing old classmates, who keep telling you all the gossips around and you keep pretending that the information you just got is soo interesting and yes, of course, you still remember all those people... aha...

That is why my daily life is mostly: working for EnterCEE conference, preparing some documents, mails, skype, swimming in the afternoon, seeing my parents and discussing the design of our house, doing some random stuff, relax...

...and somehow waiting to move to Sofia again...

...although I still do not want to start my beloved university again...

...and moving (hopefully with the nice roommate I want ;))
...and seeing many people I´ve missed so much!

So, yes, I am back - back to the roots :)

There are few blogs waiting to be written.
And many proposals waiting to be send.
Priorities set: proposals come first.

Quick update: I am home, sitting in front of my laptop, just finished the last additions on the First delegate mailer for EnterCEE Conference in Bulgaria.
Ou, yeap - did I forget to tell you? Yes, I started working, helping and co-creating the AIESEC EnterCEE Conference 2007 - 100 people from over 16 nations, during 3 days in Tryavna, Bulgaria.
... just 1 weeks after I came back in Bulgaria ;)

You think I am a freak? Hmm, you might be right :)

Cheers from cloudy Pomorie
And by the way: Welcome on my new-old blog :) :)
